In June 2020, the Open Medical Institute launched a highly interactive webinar series, called OMInars. These webinars are an excellent way to keep the medical world connected in times of crisis.
This week’s webinar focused on Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. It was led by Dr. Kim Smith-Whitley, Clinical Director of the Division of Hematology and Director of the Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Dr. Leo Kager, Head of the Outpatient Department of Hematology & Oncology at the St. Anna Children’s Hospital in Vienna.
24 fellows from 13 different countries participated in this two-day event and took the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience with leading experts in their field.
Topics discussed ranged from Hemoglobinopathies (Dr. Kim Smith-Whitley, CHOP), Stem Cell Transplantation in Oncology (Dr. Jason Freedman, CHOP), Leukemia (Dr. Anne Reilly, CHOP) and Immunodeficiencies and Cancer (Dr. Kaan Boztug, St. Anna Children’s Hospital) to Neuroblastoma (Dr. Rochelle Bagatell, CHOP), Bone Sarcomas (Dr. Leo Kager, St. Anna Children’s Hospital), Severe Aplastic Anemia (Dr. Helge Hartung, CHOP) and Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (Dr. Milen Minkov, St. Anna Children’s Hospital).
The OMI thanks all faculty members for their commitment to “Medical Education beyond Borders”.
