The OMI local coordinators are the glue that holds the OMI community together, the linchpin between the OMI’s headquarters in Salzburg and the thousands of fellows worldwide. Currently, 26 committed individuals across the globe work to promote the OMI’s programs locally, provide administrative and logistical support to applicants, track the development and impact of fellows, and make useful connections within the local healthcare systems.
After two years of virtual gatherings, the annual OMI local coordinators’ meeting returned to its face-to-face format. From September 30 to October 4, 2023, 19 coordinators from all over the world had the opportunity to spend three days together at Schloss Arenberg in Salzburg to reconnect, share ideas, and foster collaborative opportunities.
Following a presentation on “Open Medical Institute: Past, Present, and Future” by Wolfgang Aulitzky and Stephanie Faschang, attendees shared their promotional activities, screening processes, career-tracking efforts, and networking endeavors from the past 18 months. Bilateral meetings allowed for an even more focused discussion on current projects and plans for the future.
The OMI local coordinators are particularly key to the success of our program. We very much appreciate their enthusiasm and support and would like to thank all of them for coming!
